WHAT TO EXPECT

What is Behavioral Health Therapy?

Also known as counseling, therapy sessions are offered for individuals, families, and couples. Based on the individual needs of the client/couple/family, a Treatment Plan is formulated and specific goals are worked on during regular weekly or bi-weekly sessions and homework assignments. Reasons to seek therapy may include depressive and anxious symptoms, self-esteem challenges, grief, divorce, difficulty in school, etc.

Here at the Oilean Wellbeing office, you'll meet our 'bonus therapist' named Guinness who is present for all sessions (mini bernedoodle).

We apologize that we cannot see clients with dog allergies.

COUPLES THERAPY

Therapy between spouses or partners is helpful for exploring or avoiding separation, communication issues, preparing for marriage, or any other life changes. These sessions include talk therapy, worksheets, and homework assignments. Specific materials may be from Gottman, Imago, and The Five Love Languages.

KID THERAPY

FAMILY THERAPY

Play therapy uses the powerful language of play to help children articulate and express their emotions and inner thoughts without having to simply sit and talk. Play therapy can be much more comfortable for children.
We use different types of play therapy, both directive and nondirective/child-centered play therapy in order to help a child feel at ease, help build confidence, gain insight into their struggles or worries, and to practice new coping skills. Some other modalities used in conjunction are CBT models, EMDR, EFT tapping, and IFS.

*Sometimes sessions are offered in-home as kids are more comfortable in their own surroundings.

Effective for working out many family conflicts, family therapy is helpful for processing divorce, parent-child communication issues, or any other life changes. These sessions may include ice breaker games, talk therapy, worksheets, and homework assignments. Family therapy sessions are part of a child's treatment plan in most all cases.

EMDR THERAPY

A structured therapy in which the client briefly focuses on a traumatic memory while simultaneously experiencing bilateral stimulation via light bar or handheld buzzers; the result is a reduction in the vividness of emotions associated with the traumatic memories.

EMDR is also helpful for anxiety, depression, OCD, and chronic pain.

Most often used in conjunction with normal individual therapy.
